Kevin Creedon: What's Feldenkrais?- Finding the Right Words Open to Trainees and Practitioners
When people ask what Feldenkrais® is, what do you say? Does it get you many new clients? While there are no "perfect" words to describe the work, in this workshop we'll learn how to avoid the answers that rarely work, and practice several ways that are much more likely to fill your classes. This workshop is a new segment of Kevin's weekend workshop: Getting Clients with Ease-The Less Hassle Approach to Finding the Right Clients
Kevin Creedon GCFP, maintains a thriving Feldenkrais practice in New York and the greater New England area, and for many years has successfully taught presenting skills and advanced presenting skills not only to fellow practitioners, but to the general public.
Karen Donelson: Connecting the Top to the Bottom Open to all Practitioners
The Feldenkrais Method® regards efficient movement as one that involves the whole system. This workshop will help you find and understand the various relationships for movement between the 'top and the bottom' of your client.
Karen Donelson GCFP, has been practicing the Feldenkrais Method since 1991 and is an assistant trainer. Karen's practice is in New York City at Backbone and Wingspan. She is currently finishing courses for a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT).
Scott Fraser: Building a Diverse Private Practice, or... How I learned to Love the Financial Services Industry Open to Trainees and Practitioners
In this workshop we'll explore the many avenues available, and develop some of the skills necessary to cultivate a successful, thriving Feldenkrais® practice.
Scott Fraser GCFP has been a faculty member at the Feldenkrais Learning Center since 1995 and primarily teaches people with chronic joint pain and repetitive strain injury. His extensive performing background in classical music uniquely qualifies him to understand and effectively respond to the needs of his many performing artist clients. Scott has also developed popular workshops, offering creative solutions for repetitive strain, chronic pain and injury prevention/rehabilitation, presenting at such venues as Mercer Consulting, Saatchi & Saatchi, Brick Church School, major financial services companies, and the N.Y.U. School of Arts.
Sonja Johansson: Stable and Strong -- A Fall Prevention Workout Open to 3rd/4th year Trainees and Practitioners
Maintaining independence is a major focus for a growing number of older Americans. Already 12% of the population is over the age of 65. This workshop will show you how to assess the needs of such clients and help you deliver a routine that directly addresses the maintenance of balance and mobility.
Sonja Johansson GCFP In private practice since 1999, Sonja works in a wide variety of settings including gyms, private homes, studios, corporate environments and community centers. She enjoys create engaging and appropriately challenging workouts for her older clients that draw from her training in the Feldenkrais Method®, Bones for Life®, Personal Training and Voice Production.
John Link: Your Voice: An Essential Tool for You as a Teacher Open to Trainees and Practitioners
Your voice is one of your essential tools as a teacher, affecting the quality of your connection with your students whether in classes or private lessons. Learn to use your voice most effectively so that you can be easily heard while speaking comfortably.
John Link GCFP since '91, became a singing teacher because he needed to help the singers in his group learn to sing in a neutral way that is not a caricature of one style or another. He has helped many people learn to use their voices authentically in both speaking and singing. His approach to the voice is informed by the Feldenkrais Method®, by the Breathing Coordination work of Carl Stough, and by his experience as the leader of his own performing group, the John Link Project.
Marge Piatek: Tellington TTouch® Method - for Companion Animals Open to Trainees and Practitioners
This presentation will describe and demonstrate the main components of Tellington Touch. Participants will be able to practice the basic touches and learn how and when to use them. Participants will be able to leave the class with enough knowledge to use basic touches with a companion animal.
Marge Piatak graduated from David Zemach-Bersin's Manhattan Training in 2006 and completed her Ttouch Practitioner-in-Training level in 2009. After 30+ years in Human Resources management, Marge has transitioned her career into working with the Feldenkrais Method® and as a Tellington TTouch practitioner. She has done animal rescue work for many years and volunteers at NYC animal shelters using Ttouch to decrease the stress level and enhance the well-being of the animals.
Stefanie Proessl: Everything You Always Wanted To Know About The Alexander Technique: Now you Can Ask! Open to Trainees and Practitioners
Having trained in both the Alexander Technique and the Feldenkrais Method®, I am often asked how these two approaches compare. This workshop will delineate the separate benefits offered by each. It will also show how they complement each other. The key elements of the Alexander Technique will be shown in a practical context, followed by brief hands-on demonstrations. I will also share my own experiences and process of integrating what both modalities have to offer. Questions and answers will follow.
Frederick Schjang: Teaching the Feldenkrais Method® in a Hostile Culture: Get a job and keep a job in an environment where Feldenkrais has never been taught. Open to Trainees and Practitioners
Frederick Schjang has helped implement Feldenkrais® programs throughout Manhattan. This workshop teaches successful strategies-and common pitfalls to avoid, to help you secure employment.
Frederick Schjang GCFP teaches at fitness industry conventions and presents workshops to both trainers and group fitness teachers for Equinox and Reebok Sports Club New York. A twenty-five year fitness industry veteran, he has taught aerobics, body sculpting, stretch, Yoga, Pilates and Feldenkrais Method® classes at the top fitness clubs in New York City. He also teaches at NYU in the Fitness Theory program and every year he brings the best fitness professionals to New York University as part of "Fitness: theory and practice." His work has been featured in print and on television.
