    BONES FOR LIFE® 'INTENSIVE' Programs

The complete program for stimulating bone strength through natural movement and weight-bearing posture. BFL was developed by Ruthy Alon and is based on the work of Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais

There are 2 programs in NYC this season. Each are being taught by Pioneer Trainers in the BFL program. In  each, a participant may attend any one or all of the segments. To Complete the full program, one needs to partake in all 90 processes/ movement sequences. To become a certified BFL one needs to complete the full program twice. If you are taking the program for the second time, there is a large discount. Each of the programs will also provide mentoring time for those interested in becoming Bones For Life® teachers. Program 1- with Anastasi Siotas, Ellen Gordon and Sonja Johansson is taking place at Park South Physical Therapy Office on Union Square. Program 2 - with Deborah Elizabeth Lotus & Marcia Giudice will take place at the Feldenkrais Institute of New York in Chelsea.

Descriptions of BONES FOR Life® are followed by the specifics of each upcoming program in NYC.

A Personal Intensive and Professional Training Program to develop strong, resilient  bones; promote optimum posture, balance, and movement; and cultivate 'biological optimism' (zest for life)!
  • Take a peak at the sold out 2007 program with Ruthy Alon

The Bones for Life program was researched and developed by master teacher and Feldenkrais trainer, Ruthy Alon.  This program is open to the public who wish to take it for personal benefit.  For those interested in teaching the work, it also fulfills requirements toward completion of the professional certification process to become a certified Bones for Life Teacher.   The training is primarily experiential, and all 90 BFL movement 'processes' can be adapted for people with physical limitations.   Participants will learn to:

  • Enhance bone strength through safe dynamic weight bearing movement and resistance
  • Improve posture and cultivate a reliable anti-gravity axis.
  • Coordinate natural patterns of movement that minimize compressive forces on the spine
  • Use neuro-motor strategies for assuring the safety of vulnerable joints.
  • Create springy pulsations of pressure that promote bone health
  • Increase ability to  go up and down stairs with ease and comfort
  • Improve dynamic equilibrium, stability, and the ability to fall 'well'
  • Reduce stiffness, aches and pains and restore the joy of movement
  • Maximize function, vitality, and quality of life with aging
